The origins of Lemon Tree are rather unclear. It first emerged in the city of Santa Cruz in Northern California. It gradually began to gain traction on the West Coast, and after an outstanding year of competition, it finally achieved international recognition in 2014, when it won first place for Best Hybrid at both the High Times Cannabis Cup in San Francisco and Seattle.
Parents:
• Lemon Skunk: DNA Genetics created Lemon Skunk by crossing two unique Skunk phenotypes. Skunk holds a firm place in the pantheon of legendary cannabis genetics for several reasons, including its smooth high and distinctive aroma. Lemon Skunk differs from the original in many ways, including its particularly citrusy and tangy aroma and flavor.
With a THC content of 19%, it's not as potent as many modern hybrids. Instead, it produces an energetic and happy high that gently lifts the mind. Many of Lemon Skunk's traits are evident in its offspring, including its fruity yet aromatic phytochemicals and rewarding yield.
• Sour Diesel: This strain goes by many names, including Sour D and Sour Deez. This sativa-dominant hybrid is the result of a cross between Chemdawg and Super Skunk. The former gained a reputation for its euphoric and creative high, while the latter is popular with stoners who prefer a more stoned effect.
Sour Diesel exhibits both of these opposing traits, but primarily favors the energetic side of the spectrum. Sour Diesel's terpene profile—primarily driven by myrcene—and its propensity to produce high yields are both evident in Lemon Tree.
